Living in Alberta

Alberta culture

In Alberta, culture is understood as an integral part of a healthy and balanced society. It is viewed in broad terms to include not only the arts, but also our heritage, diversity, the natural environment and recreation. At the heart of our province are many cross-sector partnerships working together to foster unity and freedom for cultural expression.

In an effort to support, promote and preserve Alberta culture for future generations, a cultural policy for our province, entitled The Spirit of Alberta, has been developed. The Spirit of Alberta is a policy to ensure that all Albertans have access to culture in their communities, and that our artists and cultural industries can thrive. Its vision is an Alberta where all citizens feel a sense of belonging and pride, and participate in cultural and recreational activities that reflect their diverse heritage, and enrich their lives.
