Use the 'Navigate This Page' menu to the right to find the category/stream that applies to you so you can download the forms you must submit to the AINP.

The AINP has introduced a bar code to some of our application forms to make it easier for those applying to the program. Download our Helpful hints (PDF) to assist you in filling out the application forms. You will need at least Adobe Reader 8.1 to fill out the application forms. Other AINP Forms


Employer-Driven Stream Skilled Worker Category or International Graduate Category

If the Candidate and the Alberta Employer are eligible under the AINP Skilled Worker Category or the International Graduate Category, the Candidate and the Alberta Employer will need to:

  • download the AINP Employer-Driven Stream Skilled Worker and International Graduate Category Document Checklist (PDF) which outlines all forms and supporting documents required to apply to the AINP
  • download Helpful hints (PDF) for filling out the application forms with a bar code
  • have at least Adobe Reader 8.1 to fill out the application forms. Download Adobe Reader.
  • complete all the required forms and include all required documents before mailing an application to the AINP. Your application will be returned to you if it is incomplete.
  • submit all forms and supporting documents to the AINP together in one package. The Alberta Employer or the Candidate can mail the complete package. The AINP does not accept applications by fax.
  • mail the application to:

As of March 14, 2011, all supervisors, foremen, or tradespersons working in an occupation designated as a Compulsory or Optional Trade in Alberta (including Chefs, Cooks, and Line Cooks) are no longer eligible to apply under the Employer-Driven Stream and must apply under the Strategic Recruitment Stream, Compulsory and Optional Trades Category.

These are the CIC forms required to apply to the AINP's Skilled Worker Category. Successful nominees will need to fill out additional CIC forms when applying for permanent residence. For help in filling out CIC forms, read the CIC Guide for Provincial Nominees.


Employer-Driven Stream Semi-Skilled Worker Category

If the Candidate and the Alberta Employer are eligible under the AINP Semi-Skilled Worker Category, the Candidate and the Alberta Employer will need to:

The AINP recommends that all forms and supporting documents be sent to the AINP at the same time. However, Alberta Employers have the option of submitting the AINP 001: Employer-Driven Application Semi-Skilled Worker Category application first along with the Employer's supporting documents. If they are approved for an allocation, all the other forms can be sent following that approval. However, this will increase the overall processing times for the application.

In the case of the Foodservice Industry (pilot project) it is required that all forms and supporting documents must be sent at the same time.

Strategic Recruitment Stream – Compulsory and Optional Trades Category or Engineering Occupations Category

If the Candidate is eligible under the AINP Compulsory and Optional Trades Category or the Engineering Occupations Category, the Candidate will need to:

  • download the AINP Compulsory and Optional Trades or Engineering Occupations Category Document Checklist (PDF) which outlines all forms and supporting documents required to apply to the AINP
  • download Helpful hints (PDF) for filling out the application forms with a bar code
  • have at least Adobe Reader 8.1 to fill out the application forms. Download Adobe Reader
  • complete all the required forms and include all required documents before mailing an application to the AINP. Your application will be returned to you if it is incomplete.
  • submit all forms and supporting documents to the AINP together in one package. The AINP does not accept applications by fax.

Strategic Recruitment Stream U.S. Visa Holder Category

As of April 30, 2013, the Strategic Recruitment Stream U.S. Visa Holder category is permanently closed. Final decisions have been made on all U.S. Visa Holder Category applications received prior to the suspension of this category on August 23, 2010 and applicants have been informed.  As this category is now permanently closed, no further applications will be accepted. Family Stream

As of April 30, 2013, the Family Stream is permanently closed. Only a few Family Stream applications remain in the final stage of assessment; these applicants have been notified that a decision on their application is imminent. As this stream is now permanently closed, no further applications will be accepted. Reference information related to this stream can be found in the Family Stream section of the AINP website.

Self-Employed Farmer Stream

If the Candidate is eligible under the AINP Self-Employed Farmer Stream, the Candidate will need to:

  • download the AINP Self Employed Farmer Stream Document Checklist (PDF) which outlines all the forms and supporting documents required to apply
  • complete all the required forms and include all required documents before mailing an application. Your application will be returned to you if it is incomplete.
  • submit all forms and supporting documents to Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development together in one package. Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development will not accept applications by fax.
