Status of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program applications

Processing times vary due to the volume of applications being submitted and the completeness of applications received. Currently, the AINP is experiencing a high volume of applications. Approximate processing times are as follows:

Employer assessments Up to six months
Candidate (Employee) assessments Up to four months
Total AINP processing time Up to 10 months
Family Stream  
Sponsor notification (pre-assessment) Up to six months
Candidate assessments Up to 12 months*
Total AINP processing time Up to 18 months

* For applications accepted for assessment after January 1, 2009, processing times will be between 12 to 24 months.

The above times do not include processing of applications for permanent residency, which takes place at Canadian visa offices outside of Canada.

To ensure efficient processing, please refrain from making status inquiries during our normal processing times. Make sure all documentation is complete and included with your application to prevent unnecessary delays.
