Strategic Alliances
The Government of Alberta has fostered several important partnerships with industry and community leaders; federal, provincial, and municipal government agencies; and other interested stakeholders.
The purpose of these strategic alliances is to build a foundation of solid and sustainable economic growth in the province. Areas of provincial growth covered by these partnerships include the following:
- business, community and regional development
- economic diversification
- international trade
- investment attraction

Alberta Economic Development Authority
AEDA is a network of business, community, and academic leaders who advise the Alberta Government on long term strategies to address key economic issues in the province. This partnership allows Alberta’s business stakeholders input to help shape provincial economic development policies.

AlbertaFirst.Com Ltd. is a provincial, municipal and industry partnership created to provide valuable information to businesses and individuals interested in starting and operating a business or locating a business to Alberta. It is an important economic information resource for the promotion of business and community development across the province.

The Business Link is a not-for-profit organization supported by the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta. It provides business people in every part of Alberta with access to accurate, timely and relevant information and referrals, and reduces the complexity of dealing with various levels of government by serving as a central resource for business information.
The Business Link is a member of the Canada Business Network, connected to similar centres across Canada providing services to entrepreneurs. Many of the services are free, however, a small fee may apply to certain publications, seminars and other enhanced services.

Regional Economic Development Alliances
Regional Economic Development Alliances (REDAs) are comprised of larger groupings of communities who have agreed to work together to address a broad range of issues relating to economic growth and long-term economic viability.

Trade Team Alberta (TTA) is a partnership of federal and provincial government departments and agencies working together on international business development and trade activities, including attracting investment to the province.

Western Economic Partnership Agreement
The new Western Economic Partnership Agreement is a joint agreement between the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada aiming to contribute to the sustainable and diversified growth of the Alberta economy in the areas of:
- Innovation and Value-Added Industries
- Regional Economic Development and Sustainable Communities
